The Basics

Opened in 2000, and originally called the National D-Day Museum, the National WWII Museum takes an immersive look at wartime life and the input the United States Armed Forces had in the Allied victory. Visitors have the chance to dine in 1940s style at BB’s Stage Door Canteen, see restored fighter planes and tanks, and even experience a thrilling ride on Lake Pontchartrain onboard a restored PT boat, the same type of craft that was used in the Normandy landings.

If you’re touring independently, prebook admission so you can skip the line upon arrival. For an extended day trip, you can combine a visit to the museum with a citywide private tour that includes air-conditioned transport.

Top Notch Presentation.

This was the most outstanding presentation of WW II material I have ever experienced! The staff were very helpful. The cafeteria was clean and organized with a variety of choices including salads. So proud of the men and women who made so many sacrifices for our freedom! Our current society could learn a lot.

Great museum and experience. So much to see and do that you cannot complete in a day. Would like to see the interactive displays come back online that were disabled because of Covid concerns.

The National WWII Museum Campus Pass + Beyond All Boundaries 4-D Film
The WWII Museum in NOLA is a national treasure. It is as good as anything you'll see in D.C. They are just scratching the surface on how spectacular this museum can become over the next few years. I've have many thing I would like to donate (if they will take them). YOU MUST PUT THIS MUSEUM ON YOUR LST OF THINGS YOU MUST DO, AND SOON!
