Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your tour begins in the middle of Moab where you’ll meet you professional guide, who will help you get comfortably situated inside of the off-road, 4WD vehicle. Enjoy the 30-mile (48km) drive from Moab to Canyonlands National Park, where you’ll explore the popular Island in the Sky District with its spectacular desert scenery.

Start off atop a mesa with views looking out over the horizon before your guide deftly maneuvers the switchbacks of Shafer Trail. On this section of the 100-mile (161-km) White Rim Road Loop, you’ll make stops at spectacular Gooseneck Overlook and famous Musselman Arch, and photograph vistas of the Colorado River and the view from Thelma and Louise Point.

In addition to the popular lookouts, your expert guide will take you to spots that aren’t as frequently visited, where you’ll find everything from ancient Pueblo rock art to vertical views down the canyons. You’ll learn the history of the Pueblo people who inhabited the Four Corners area, and aside from the culture and history lessons, your guide will also explain the geology of the red rock canyons before you.

When you stop for a break to take photos, venture out on one of the short trails that leave from many of the viewpoints; you’ll get a different perspective and angle for photographing the canyons.

When this Canyonlands tour from Moab is over, your guide will return you to the middle of Moab to the spot where the tour began.

Views were awesome, but the tour company has some issues

The views were awesome, the driver was very good but NAVITECH clearly has some organizational issues. I made a reservations for 6 well in advanced and called to confirm one month before and one week before - I was told everything was on track. The day before they pushed back our start time and they were late getting going. We finished our tour in the dark which made it challenging to see things.

This was a last minute thought and we were so thankful to get the one spot left! Our tour guide was Rocky and he was amazing! He was informative, entertaining, knowledgeable, accommodating and just made the trip perfect! His driving through Shafer Trail, which was the most spectacular and a little scary as well, was calming and professional. The views were beyond description and Rocky knew the best places to stop and take time to drink it all in. One of the most memorable experiences of my lifetime and one I hope I never forget!

Our guide John was the best part of our trip and an excellent guide. We could not have asked for anyone better. His knowledge snd history of Moab and the surrounding areas was amazing. The best parts of the tour were 1. Riding up the switchbacks, 2. The view where Thelma and Louise was filmed, 3. Mussulman Arch, 4. The Indian etchings on the cliffs, 5. The beautiful 360 views during the entire trip, 6. The view overlooking the Colorado River, 7. The salt lakes.

Blaine was our tour guide, he did a great job. We had a good time, saw some beautiful Vistas. Blaine was well informed and made sure we knew the history of the park. My husband is afraid of heights and Blaine was especially caring of his fear, he drove slowly on the frightening parts of the road. We are grateful for his caring, expertise and knowledge.

Fabulous Scenery but Horrible Tour Guide
Jimmy_B
, Sep 2021
Canyonlands National Park is a fabulous place to visit. Unfortunately, we had an extremely uninformative and dull tour guide. Matt was unenthusiastic and seemed to be disinterested in the tour. For the entire 4-hour tour, he talked for only about 30-45 minutes. And instead of giving us information at the time of each stop along the way, he waited until we were on the return home leg to mention information specific to some of the locations. For example, it would have been nice if he had told us, while we were actually there, that a famous movie scene was filmed at the Thelma and Louise Point. This tour would have been spectacular with a more knowledgeable and personable tour guide. I would highly recommend this tour, but avoid Matt as your guide!
